Phil Green gets weight wise for a wonderful life
Biggest Loser 2010 contestant Phil 'Phillthy' Green, who shed 53.9kg on the show, is making the most of his slimmer physique and healthier lifestyle with a home fitness studio packed with quality equipment from Workout World.
Phil originally gained weight in his 30s after giving up regular sports, cricket and rugby league. Before joining The Biggest Loser 2010, he weighed in at 146.9kg.
"The biggest downside to being overweight was having no energy or motivation - particularly when my wife Karen and I had kids," Phil says.
"I wasn't able to fully engage with the family or help Karen with a lot of the work."

Height helped hide the kilos
Phil said that initially his height helped him hide the extra kilos.
"Being a bloke, your appearance isn’t as big an issue (as it can be for women). You simply buy a bigger clothing and you get your confidence back."
"But you can only hide for so long."
More motivated to move more
Today Phil's a healthier 94kg. He's more motivated than ever, incorporating exercise into his daily life with the help of a daily home workout using his Reebok 5.8 bike, Precor 5.31 cross trainer and Concept 2 rower.
"For me having lost 53kg was a momentous achievement. Now I'm enjoying maintaining a healthy weight by exercising at home," Phil explains.
Phil regularly plans his week's exercise and he likes to 'mix it up a bit'.
"These days I'm training six days a week and I have so much energy!"
"It's not hard to keep motivated when you've got the equipment set up properly at home. I probably use the rower, the bike and my cross trainer once or twice a day for a couple of hours."
Exercise and entertainment hub at home helps
Phil has a dedicated Media Room where he exercises on his Reebok 5.8 upright bike, Concept 2 Rower and Precor 5.31 cross trainer, set up on protective mats.
"I became pretty attached to the cross trainer on The Biggest Loser. I used the Precor cross trainer a lot when I was in the outback.
"I loved how low impact it was – it wasn’t tough on my joints – and I was able to use it for extended periods. On average I spent 1.5 - 2 hours on the cross trainer in the house and would spend an hour or so on a spin bike."
"If I ever think of putting off my exercise, I just look back at how tough things were in the house and what it took to get to where I am today!"
Phil achieves new fitness feat
Phil recently took part in the 21km Gold Coast Half Marathon, clocking 2 hours 6 minutes – 18 minutes quicker than the time he achieved during the run on The Biggest Loser.
"A year ago I never would have thought I’d be running marathons!"
Feeling happier and healthier
"I'm now at the weight I was at when I met my wife. That really feels great. When the alarm goes off, instead of hitting ‘snooze' five times, I look forward to getting out of bed!
"I love motivating other people my age to lose weight."
"Even if people simply start off with a short daily walk, they can build up eventually to something more intensive."
